Custom cabinet shop in San Diego — CNC-cut plywood boxes and finished doors

Custom Cabinets San Diego · In-House CNC

Cabinets Built to Last a Lifetime — Not a Lease Term

Every cabinet in your San Diego home should be engineered like furniture — plywood boxes, dovetail drawers, Blum soft-close hardware, and finishes that hold up for decades. That's exactly how we build ours. In our own shop. On your timeline.

Why In-House Cabinet Manufacturing Matters

Most remodelers in San Diego sub-contract cabinet work — which means their lead times, their quality, and their communication gaps become yours. We built our own CNC shop so your cabinets are engineered, cut, finished, and installed by the same team that designed them. One point of accountability. One standard of craftsmanship.

The result: a kitchen that fits your space perfectly the first time — not after weeks of waiting for a replacement panel from a factory three states away.

Precision to your exact dimensions

No standard sizing constraints. Cabinets built to your ceiling height, window placement, and appliance specs.

Faster turnaround

In-house production cuts cabinet lead time by 4–8 weeks — compressing the full remodel timeline.

Complete finish control

Our dedicated spray booth means no subcontractor finish quality or factory color-matching surprises.

Design flexibility

Custom profiles, non-standard heights, mixed materials, integrated lighting — if it can be designed, we can build it.

Cabinet Design & Construction

Every Decision That Shapes Your Cabinets

Custom cabinets aren't one product — they're the sum of dozens of small choices. Here's what actually matters, and how we build to the highest tier on each one.

Cabinet Door Styles

The door sets the entire aesthetic of your kitchen. Choose based on your home's architecture — not trend alone.

Shaker

The most versatile profile — a clean 5-piece door that works in traditional, transitional, and modern homes. Timeless and low-maintenance.

Flat Panel / Slab

A minimalist, single-panel door — defining aesthetic of contemporary kitchens. Available in paint, natural wood veneer, and matte laminate.

Raised Panel

A traditional profile with a contoured center panel. Adds depth, shadow, and formality — ideal for classic or architectural interiors.

Glass Front

Framed glass uppers for display storage, interior lighting, or visual relief in long cabinet runs. Clear, reeded, and antique options.

Custom Profile

Our CNC lets us build door profiles not available from semi-custom brands — rift-sawn white oak slabs, beaded inset, fluted panels, and more.

Cabinet Materials Compared

Not all cabinet boxes are built equal. The material under the finish determines how long your kitchen cabinets in San Diego will actually last.

Solid Hardwood
Premium

Used for doors, face frames, and decorative ends. Maple, white oak, walnut, and cherry — stable, repairable, and beautiful in natural finishes.

Furniture-Grade Plywood
Our Standard

Our structural standard for cabinet boxes. Holds fasteners, resists moisture, supports heavy loads, and stays dimensionally stable.

MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard)
Select Uses

Used selectively for paint-grade doors and panels where a seamless, knot-free painted surface is the priority.

Particle Board
Not Used

The industry shortcut — weaker, heavier, and prone to swelling. We do not use particle board in our cabinet construction.

Joinery & Construction

The parts you don't see are the ones that determine how cabinets age. Every box we build is engineered to outlast the home.

Dovetail Drawer Boxes

Solid maple drawers with interlocking dovetail joints — stronger and longer-lasting than stapled or doweled alternatives.

Reinforced Joinery

Dadoed, glued, and mechanically fastened cabinet joints. Built to carry full-loaded countertops and appliances for decades.

Soft-Close Systems

Blum CLIP top Blumotion hinges and Tandem Plus soft-close slides — standard on every door and drawer, not an upgrade.

Precision CNC Cut Parts

Every panel, shelf, and side is CNC-cut to thousandths of an inch. Cleaner assembly. Tighter reveals. Better-looking cabinets.

Inset vs. Overlay Cabinetry

How your doors sit on the cabinet face defines the entire look — clean-line European or crafted heirloom.

Modern Standard
Full Overlay

Doors cover nearly the entire face of the cabinet, leaving a slim reveal between doors. Clean, contemporary, and maximizes interior storage.

Traditional Look
Partial Overlay

Doors partially cover the face frame with visible frame around each door. The most traditional look — common in older or craftsman-style homes.

Heirloom Craftsmanship
Inset

Doors sit flush inside the face frame — the most labor-intensive construction and the hallmark of true custom cabinetry. Requires the tightest tolerances.

Hinges, Slides & Hardware

Hardware is the part of a cabinet you touch every day. We specify components that feel right for the next 20 years — not just the first six months.

Concealed Soft-Close Hinges

Blum CLIP top Blumotion hinges on every door. 110°–170° opening options, fully adjustable, and tested to 200,000+ cycles.

Under-Mount Drawer Slides

Blum Tandem Plus Blumotion full-extension slides, rated to 100 lbs. Hidden from view and whisper-quiet on close.

Premium Pulls & Knobs

Solid brass, stainless, and blackened steel finishes — selected with you from our curated library of designer-grade hardware.

Interior Organization

Cutlery dividers, drawer inserts, pull-out waste stations, appliance garages, and spice racks — specified during design, built during production.

Trusted Hardware Partners

The Names Behind Every Door & Drawer

Premium cabinetry is only as good as the hardware that runs it. We partner with the same brands used in Europe's finest kitchens — chosen for durability, precision, and a feel you notice every time you touch a door.

Blum

The global standard for soft-close hinges and drawer systems. Austrian-engineered, tested to hundreds of thousands of cycles, and backed by a lifetime warranty.

Our Construction Standards

Every cabinet built in our San Diego shop is held to the same non-negotiable specs — no matter the project size.

3/4-inch plywood cabinet boxes: Plywood — not particleboard or MDF — for every structural component. It holds fasteners, resists humidity, and supports full-loaded counters.
Frameless (European) construction: Full-overlay, frameless boxes for more interior storage, cleaner lines, and easier access. Face-frame on request.
Dovetail drawer boxes: Solid maple drawers with dovetail joinery and Blum under-mount slides rated to 100 lbs. No staples. No shortcuts.
Soft-close hardware throughout: Blum CLIP top Blumotion hinges and Tandem Plus drawer slides — standard, not an upgrade.
Catalyzed conversion varnish finish: Spray-booth applied with environmental controls and sanding between coats. Harder and longer-lasting than consumer-grade finishes.

Panel-Ready Integration

Designed Around Premium Appliances

Panel-ready integration demands tolerances only an in-house shop can hit reliably. We build to Fisher & Paykel's integration spec from day one — so every panel, hinge clearance, and reveal aligns before a cabinet is cut.

Custom Cabinets San Diego — FAQs

How long does it take to manufacture custom cabinets?

In-house production typically runs 3–5 weeks from approved design to delivery — 4–8 weeks faster than ordering from external semi-custom manufacturers.

What's the difference between custom and semi-custom cabinets?

Semi-custom comes in fixed width increments (usually 3-inch steps) and a defined finish set. Custom is built to any dimension, any finish, any configuration. Because we manufacture in-house, the price gap is smaller than most homeowners expect.

Can I see the cabinet finishes before production begins?

Yes — that's exactly what our San Diego showroom is for. Full-size door samples in every finish, plus complete cabinet runs installed in our kitchen display so you see selections in real context.

Do you only supply cabinets, or handle the full remodel?

We are a licensed general contractor (#B-1061681) providing full design-build remodeling — permits, structural, cabinetry, countertops, appliances, and finishes. Cabinets are one component of what we deliver.

Do you work with panel-ready appliances from brands other than Fisher & Paykel?

Yes. We build panel-ready cabinetry to the specifications of any panel-ready brand — Sub-Zero, Miele, Gaggenau, Thermador, and others. Fisher & Paykel is our preferred integration partner with the deepest showroom presence.
